CISCO CCNA 200-301

Lesson 1

 Network Devices:-

A digital communication network that allows nodes to share resources.

Router, Switch, Firewall, Server, Client

Client and Server are endpoints

Clients:- Desktop, MacBook, iPhone, Android Phone

Access the service made available by a server

Server:- Any computer can be a server too.

A server is a device that provides services and functions for the clients

In a point-to-point network, both computers could be clients and servers.

Enterprise Network

Switch:-

Forward traffic within a LAN, such as computer, printer, etc, Hosts within a switch connected lan can send information to each other

Catalyst 9200, Catalyst 3650 switch

Switches have around 24 ports. Provides connectivity within the same LAN, do not provide connectivity between the lens.

Routers:-ISR 100, ISR 900, ISR 4000

Routers have fewer network interfaces than switches. Routers connectivity between the plans hence provides connectivity over the Internet.

Routers can be attacked by attackers. Firewalls could be configured with the security rules.

Firewalls:- ASA5500-X, Firepower 2100

Next-generation firewalls,

Monitor and control network traffic based on configured rules, they can be placed inside the network or outside the network, They are called next-generation firewalls when they include more modern and advanced filtering capabilities.

Firelewass in Computer

Network firewalls are hardware devices. There are host-based firewalls that are software applications that filter traffic entering and exiting a host machine like a PC.
