A Shadow That Remains
Your thoughts came back again today, A whisper from the past, a soft ballet. I searched through memories, old and worn, Hoping to find you, as once I had sworn. I traced each moment, each laughter and tear, Through fading moments, I drew you near. But the picture blurred, it slipped away, Like a dream at dawn, too faint to stay. I spent my heart, I spent my mind, Searching the corners where you'd been confined. But in the haze, I saw a glimpse, A shadow of you, like a fleeting wisp. If I had an eye to see your beauty, I’d paint you in strokes of truth and duty. The lines you wore, the smile, the grace, All etched forever, a perfect trace. Yet still, I remember, though the image is faint, The essence of you, with no need for restraint. Even as time erases the trace, The feeling of you lingers in space. A friend, a moment, a love that still gleams, In the quiet of night and the silence of dreams. Wajid November 24, 2024
